What is DominusVault for?
Backup, restore and migration of PostgreSQL, MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server databases in one console. It does not replace full infrastructure protection such as virtual-machine or disk-image backup.
How is it different from SQL dump tools?
Besides scheduled backups it provides retention, reports, run history, planned restore verification and — in higher editions — cross-engine migration.
What does the Free edition include?
After the 30-day trial you keep Free: new backups for 1 server and 2 databases. The panel runs locally (no DominusVault cloud). Decrypting and restoring every existing .dvb archive remains available with no database cap. After decrypt you get a standard SQL dump file.
Where are backups stored?
In the repository configured for the installation: local disk, an SMB/NAS share, or S3-compatible object storage (MinIO, AWS S3, Cloudflare R2 and similar), with optional Object Lock retention for cold / immutable copies. .dvb archives use LZMA compression and AES-256-GCM with your organisation key.
Is point-in-time recovery (PITR) available?
Backups are full logical copies. WAL, binlog and continuous transaction-log chains are outside the product scope today.
Can I deploy on Windows and Linux?
Yes. The 64-bit installer runs on Windows 10/11 Pro and Windows Server; separately there is a Docker package (Linux / Docker Desktop) from the official DominusVault registry.
How are backups encrypted?
.dvb format: LZMA compression and AES-256-GCM encryption. The key belongs to your installation. After decrypt in the panel (including Free edition) you get a standard SQL dump — no vendor lock-in.
What is the introductory rate?
Standard is €590 instead of €790, Professional €1 590 instead of €2 090 (net / year). The introductory rate applies to the first licence year.
